Skylight Language School (SLS)

1. Introduction

These Terms and Conditions govern the relationship between Skylight Language School (SLS) and the parents/legal guardians of enrolled students. By submitting an application, enrolling a child, or continuing attendance at SLS, parents/guardians acknowledge that they have read, understood, and agreed to abide by these Terms and Conditions.

Skylight Language School reserves the right to amend or update these Terms and Conditions when necessary. Any updates will be communicated through official school channels.


2. Admissions & Enrollment

  1. Admission to SLS is selective and subject to:
    • Availability of places
    • Successful completion of entrance assessments
    • Satisfactory interview outcomes
  2. All applications must be fully completed and supported by accurate documentation.
  3. Submission of an application does not guarantee admission.
  4. Final admission decisions are made solely by the School Administration.
  5. Enrollment is confirmed only after:
    • Written acceptance is issued
    • Required fees are paid within the announced deadline

Failure to complete enrollment procedures within the stated timeframe may result in forfeiture of the offered place.


3. Age Placement & Assessment

  1. Student placement is determined based on:
    • The child’s age as of October 1st of the academic year
    • Academic readiness
    • Assessment performance
  2. SLS reserves the right to place a student in the year group deemed academically and developmentally appropriate, regardless of previous school placement.
  3. Placement decisions are final and non-negotiable.

4. Assessment Fees

  1. An assessment fee is payable on the day of assessment.
  2. The assessment fee is:
    • Refundable only if the student is not accepted
    • Non-deductible from tuition or school fees if the student is accepted
  3. Assessment fees are non-transferable and non-negotiable.

5. Tuition Fees & Payments

  1. Tuition fees are determined annually and communicated before the start of the academic year.
  2. Fees must be paid according to the published payment schedule.
  3. Late payments may result in:
    • Penalties
    • Temporary suspension of student attendance
    • Withholding of reports or official documents
  4. All fees are non-refundable, except where explicitly stated in writing by the school.
  5. In the event of withdrawal, dismissal, or absence, no refunds will be issued for unused tuition periods.

6. Withdrawal Policy

  1. Parents must submit a written withdrawal request to the Administration.
  2. Verbal notifications are not considered valid.
  3. Withdrawal does not entitle parents to refunds unless specified in school policy.
  4. All outstanding fees must be settled before issuing:
    • Transfer files
    • Academic records
    • Clearance certificates

7. Attendance & Punctuality

  1. Regular attendance is mandatory for academic progress.
  2. Parents are responsible for ensuring punctual arrival and timely pickup.
  3. Excessive absences or late arrivals may:
    • Negatively affect academic performance
    • Result in disciplinary action
  4. Absence due to illness must be communicated to the school, with medical documentation when required.

8. Student Conduct & Discipline

  1. SLS maintains a positive, respectful, and safe learning environment.
  2. Students are expected to:
    • Respect staff, peers, and school property
    • Adhere to school rules and values
  3. Disciplinary measures may include:
    • Verbal or written warnings
    • Parental meetings
    • Temporary suspension
    • Permanent dismissal in severe cases
  4. SLS reserves the right to dismiss a student whose behavior:
    • Endangers others
    • Disrupts the learning environment
    • Repeatedly violates school policies

9. Health, Safety & Medical Care

  1. Parents must disclose accurate medical information during registration.
  2. The school clinic provides first aid and basic medical care only.
  3. In case of emergency:
    • The school will contact parents immediately
    • External medical services may be sought if required
  4. SLS is not responsible for pre-existing medical conditions unless officially disclosed.
  5. Students with contagious illnesses must remain at home until medically cleared.

10. Child Protection & Well-being

  1. SLS is committed to safeguarding and child protection.
  2. Any form of bullying, harassment, or abuse is strictly prohibited.
  3. The school reserves the right to investigate and take appropriate action in all reported cases.

11. Uniform & Appearance

  1. Wearing the official school uniform is mandatory.
  2. Students must adhere to appearance guidelines communicated by the school.
  3. Non-compliance may result in disciplinary action.

12. Academic Records & Reports

  1. Academic reports are issued according to the school calendar.
  2. Access to reports and certificates may be withheld if:
    • Outstanding fees exist
    • Administrative requirements are incomplete

13. Communication Policy

  1. Official communication channels include:
    • Email
    • Phone calls
    • School platforms
    • WhatsApp (when applicable)
  2. Parents are responsible for keeping contact details updated.
  3. The school is not liable for missed communications due to outdated contact information.

14. Use of Images & Media

  1. SLS may photograph or record students during school activities.
  2. Such materials may be used for:
    • Educational purposes
    • School publications
    • Marketing and social media
  3. Parents who object must submit a written request to the Administration.

15. Transportation (If Applicable)

  1. School transportation is subject to availability.
  2. SLS is not responsible for delays caused by traffic, weather, or external factors.
  3. Parents must adhere to transportation rules and schedules.

16. Force Majeure

The school shall not be held liable for disruptions caused by events beyond its control, including but not limited to:

  • Natural disasters
  • Government regulations
  • Epidemics or pandemics
  • Security or safety concerns

17. Limitation of Liability

  1. SLS is not responsible for:
    • Loss of personal belongings
    • Items brought to school against policy
  2. Students are responsible for taking care of their personal property.

18. Amendments & Policy Updates

  1. The school reserves the right to modify policies when necessary.
  2. Updates will be communicated through official channels.
  3. Continued enrollment constitutes acceptance of updated policies.

19. Governing Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws and regulations of the Arab Republic of Egypt, including Ministry of Education regulations applicable to private schools.


20. Acceptance of Terms

By enrolling a child at Skylight Language School, parents/legal guardians confirm that they:

  • Have read and understood these Terms and Conditions
  • Agree to comply with all school policies
  • Accept the school’s authority in academic and administrative matters
